DUNCAN PATTERSON ARCHITECTURE
Previous to starting dPA, Duncan worked at a variety of award-winning firms across Canada, from Whitehorse to Toronto to Halifax, as well as in the UK. Duncan doesn't believe in style but rather believes that the success of a space depends on how well it frames and supports the lives of inhabitants. His focus on the poetics of space and the unique needs and desires of his clients is grounded in his expertise in building construction materials and detailing which foregrounds functionality and constructability. Duncan is also the architect behind the restoration of the Al and Eurithe Purdy A-Frame and his essays on art and architecture have been published in journals, conference proceedings, and books internationally.
